If you try to modify a distribution list or group through Outlook and receive this error message, try the instructions below.
Step 1. Click Start. The menu opens.
Step 2. Click the Run tile. The Run dialog box opens.
Step 3. In the Run dialog box, type: c:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe dsquery,OpenQueryWindow
Step 4. Click OK. The Find Users, Contacts and Groups dialog box opens.
Step 5. In the Find Users, Contacts and Groups dialog box, type the group name in the Name field.
Step 6. Click Find Now. Groups will populate the Search results box.
Step 7. Right-click the group you are updating and choose Properties from the right-click menu. The Properties dialog box opens.
Step 8. Click Add. The Select Users, Contacts, Computers, Service Accounts, or Groups dialog box opens.
Step 9. Enter the PirateID for new users into the Enter the object names to select dialog box. Separate multiple PirateIDs with a semi-colon (;).
Step 10. Click OK in the Select Users, Contacts, Computers, Service Accounts or Groups dialog box.
Step 11. Click OK in the Properties dialog box.
