Tutorial - Install Microsoft Non-Office Apps

Overview

The student Microsoft 365 subscription includes applications not included in the Office 365 subscription downloads. Examples include Microsoft Project and Visio.* Follow these steps to download these programs through the Azure Dev Tools for Teaching.

*CET students also access these apps through virtual labs.

NOTE: Off-campus users must be connected through the ECU virtual private network. LOGIN: remoteaccess.ecu.edu First-time users install the VPN software. See these instructions.

Step 1. Navigate to Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching

On campus users navigate to the Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching at azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools. Sign in using ECU email/password.

Off campus users must first log in to the ECU VPN at remoteaccess.ecu.edu. Then navigate to azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools and sign in using ECU email/password.

The Education Overview page opens. Click the Software link in the Learning resources menu. The software list opens.

Step 2. Choose your software.

Scroll until you find your application (or use the search bar). Click the title. A sidebar opens giving a description, a View Key button and a Download button.

Step 3. Take note of the license key.

Click the View Key button to open the Product key. You will need this for the installation.

Step 4. Click the Download button.

Once the download completes to your computer, click the file and choose Setup.exe. Follow the prompts to install the application.

Step 5. Enter the product key.

Enter the license key when prompted.
