PirateID, Passphrase and ECU ID

A newly-assigned PirateID is activated through the passphrase maintenance portal. During this process, you will set up security questions, add your mobile number, add an alternate email and create a passphrase.

The ECU ID number is an employee’s numerical identifier in ECU administrative systems. This number begins with a “B.” Your ECU ID number is listed in PiratePort.

Blackboard

Blackboard is ECU’s learning management system. Visit the Blackboard, Canvas & Integrated Tools page for tutorials and features.

Classroom Technology

ECU has over 400 technology-enhanced classrooms and spaces spanning both campuses. Check out the database to find exactly the equipment configuration you need.

Chat, Audio and Video

Microsoft Teams offers persistent chat, audio and video meetings (dependent on available hardware) whether you’re on campus, off campus and even with non-ECU collaborators.

The Teams desktop download is part of your Office 365 subscription.

File Storage

On-Campus Wireless Access

ECU’s network, eduroam, is more than access to the ECU resources and the internet. Enroll once for four years of access anywhere eduroam is available – including many other UNC campuses!

Off-Campus Virtual Private Network (VPN) Access

When away from campus, faculty, staff and students connect to on-campus resources, such as Piratedrive, through a Virtual Private Connection. After the easy, initial setup, log in using this secure connection from anywhere with just a click!

PiratePort Web Portal

All-in-one resource portal for faculty and staff. Pay History, Piratedrive and Banner Self Service are accessed from here along with other administrative tools.

Technology Training

ITCS provides technology training in both seated and virtual formats for students, staff and faculty. Register through Cornerstone, ECU’s training portal. Visit the comprehensive training page for more information about Cornerstone course packaging, and access to online resources such as LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda), Microsoft Imagine Academy, and SAS training.

Video and Web Conferencing

Virtual Computing Lab (VCL)

Without buying software or leaving home, students log on to a VCL computer and access software to create class assignments. Faculty can request a software profile be added to the VCL systems.
