What is Patch My PC?
ECU uses a management tool called, Patch My PC, to automate deployment of some Company Portal* applications and application updates to ECU-managed Windows computers.
Features
- Patch My PC is for ECU-managed Windows computers that download apps through the Company Portal.*
- When a software update is available, you may see a pop-up like the one here alerting you to close any conflicting processes before the update.
- The pop-up alerts you that, "Your organization requires an update for [Application Name]. To ensure files aren't in use during the update, [Application Name] needs to be closed. Please save your work and close the application to proceed with the update. You can postpone the update up to 3 times(s). If no action is taken before the timer expires the update for application be deferred."
- The update can be postponed up to three times but is then automatically installed.
*The Company Portal is ECU's app store for Windows 11 software downloads. Available through your Windows 11 Start menu.
Why use Patch my PC?
Most updates install in the background. However, if you see the message above, close the conflicting app to let the update install.
