Applications
There are a few different ways to open an application in PiratePort, each offering different advantages.
Search Apps
The search box is the quickest and most efficient way to find an application by title or keywords. Enter two or more letters to see a list of matching apps. Click a title to launch or use the up/down keyboard arrow keys to move to an app, then click Enter.

Close Apps
There are two ways to close an application and return to the PiratePort Home screen:
- Click the PiratePort logo to return to the Home screen.

- Click the X icon (top right).

Application Card
The application card section is located under your favorites and displays all apps available to you according to your role with ECU (student, faculty, staff, etc.). Find featured, suggested and recent applications followed by the remainder of your allowed applications in alphabetical order. Click an application card to open the application.

Favorites
Anchor frequently-used apps to the top of the home screen (Favorites) by activating the favorite flag. Click on a "pill" to open the application.

There are two ways to add and three ways to remove an application pill on the home screen:
- Favorite an app by clicking the empty star icon on an app card (bottom left). Click the solid star icon to un-favorite an app.

- Favorite an open appby clicking the empty star icon (top right). Click the solid star icon to un-favorite an app.

- Un-favorite an app by clicking the "X" on the app pill in the Favorites section.

Permissions
PiratePort uses Permission Groups to manage a user’s access to an application. Permissions are granted based on your role within the university. Because of this, your co-worker may have access to an application that you cannot see in your PiratePort application list. Also, if your role within the university has recently changed, you may have lost access to a particular application your new role doesn't require.
Walkthrough
The PiratePort Walkthrough is accessed through the PiratePort Info section of the side bar (screen right). The Walkthrough explains each portal area and provides helpful information.
