Be sure to review assignment instructions/requirements before you begin recording or submitting assignments.
Computer, Browser & Internet
System Requirements
Computers less than 5 years should work, however there are exceptions.
Internet Browser
Chrome and Firefox are our recommended Internet browsers.
Note: If you have an issue in one browser, try using another browser. Having a primary and back up browser installed is recommended.
Internet Speed
Minimum of 512kbps.
Recording & Uploading
Can I practice recording using Studio?
- Yes. Practicing is a great idea. You’ll have work out any technical bugs.
- Click the Studio icon from your Canvas dashboard. No one has access to your media until you submit or post it.
- Click the Canvas Help icon to chat with or call support.

A screen capture is a recording of what’s on your screen (slides, a document, a web page etc.) and your audio or video.
You may be asked to record a web cam only video.
- Yes! industry standard video/audio files (i.e., mp4, wmv, mov, mp3) can be uploaded.
- Each file can be 10GB.

Submitting Assignments
Your instructor may enable one or both options for you to submit using Studio.
Note: If both methods are enabled, you MAY have the option to choose which method to use but be sure to read the assignment instructions to make certain you are submitting correctly.
How do I embed media in Discussions, Quiz answer and Assignment Text Entry?
- From the text editor toolbar, click the Apps icon.
Note: The toolbar may be collapsed. Click the vertical dots to expand it to see more tools.
- Search for and select Studio.
How do I attach media to an Assignment submission?
- Click the Submit Assignment button (not shown).
- Open the Studio tab to locate media or to begin recording or uploading.
