Overview

If you use an ECU-managed macOS computer, use one of these options to update your password. In all cases, it must be done locally (on the Mac) so the password is synchronized through all the encryption layers.

Jamf Connect or Self Service+ icon (on or off campus)

  1. Check for the Connect or Self Service+ icon in the menu bar.
  2. If yes, click the icon and choose change password.
  3. Internet required; ECU VPN not required.

SoDM PirateTooth Jamf Connect icon (on or off campus)

  1. Click the Jamf Connect (PirateTooth) menu bar icon
  2. Click Change ECU password.
    ""
  3. Sign in to Microsoft using your ECU email and password. Authenticate your account through MFA.
  4. Enter a NEW password, then enter and confirm the new password. Click Submit.
  5. Select Done to close the browser/web view or select the red X.
  6. Jamf Connect ECU Window opens with email and password ready for you to sign in. If it does not, click the PirateTooth menu bar icon.
  7. Make sure to sign in with the NEW password. Delete the old password from the menu, if needed. 
  8. You will see a prompt for local (aka OLD) password.
  9. Please type in your previous OLD password. Press enter.
  10. Done.

NO Jamf Connect or Self Service+ icon (on campus)

  1. If on ECU’s network, no vpn. Go to the top left of the screen and click the Apple menu.
  2. Click System Settings.
  3. Click Users & Groups.
  4. Click your account and the Change Password button appears on the right.
  5. Macs adhere to many strict password policies.  Re-using a current password or using anything less than 15 characters will not work.

NO Jamf Connect or Self Service + icon (off campus)

  1. Connect to the ECU Virtual Private Network (VPN): https://remoteaccess.ecu.edu
  2. Go to the top left of the screen and click the Apple menu.
  3. Click System Settings.
  4. Click Users & Groups.
  5. Click your account and the Change Password button appears on the right.
  6. Macs adhere to many strict password policies.  Re-using a current password or using anything less than 15 characters will not work.
