Overview

Follow these steps to connect remotely between an ECU-managed macOS workstation and an ECU-managed Windows workstation.

Please note:

  • Access permitted for ECU-justified tasks between ECU-managed computers only.
  • First submit the Remote Access privileges service request.
  • After approval, the following changes are made to your device to ensure connectivity:
    • Sleep is disabled when connected to power. 
      • Closing the lid does not put a laptop to sleep.
      • If needed, manually put your device to sleep through Start >> power options menu.
    • Hibernate is disabled.

Connect Windows 11 to Windows 11

Step 1

Submit a Remote Access Privileges service request. Once approved, follow the steps below.

Find the Remote Desktop Connection app on your computer. Look in your app list within the Windows Tools folder.

Click Open. The Remote Desktop Connection dialog box opens.

Click Show Options in the lower left corner of the dialog box to expand the dialog box. Make sure the General tab is active.

Enter your computer name and username (ECU email address, see example):

  1. Find your computer name. Type Computer name in the taskbar search box. In the View your PC name dialog box, click Open. Your workstation's name and other info opens (System > About).

  2. Go back to the Remote Desktop Connection General tab. 
    • Enter your workstation's PC name.
    • Enter your username as follows: AzureAD\your-username@ecu.edu (replace your-username with your ECU PirateID username).
    • Do not click Connect just yet. 
      ""

  1. Open the Advanced tab. Under the User authentication section, check Use a web account to sign in to the remote computer
