Overview

As part of ECU’s ongoing information technology modernization efforts, administrative privileges have been restricted. While these measures reduce the attack surface, they also impact the ability to use Remote Access on ECU-managed systems. This service ticket provides a means to support valid use cases of Remote Access on ECU-managed systems via workstations in a secure, auditable, and controlled manner. 

Remote Access usage is permitted only between ECU-managed devices. Both the initiating and receiving systems must be enrolled in ECU’s device management solutions and/or comply with current ECU security configurations.  

Remote Access is only used in scenarios that support business, academic, and research functions for FACULTY / STAFF ONLY. 

Legitimate uses of Remote Access may include: 

  • A critical business operation is restricted to a particular workstation
  • A specialized software/application is only available on a particular workstation
  • A specific research task (data set operation) is only available on a particular workstation 

Required Information

  • Business justification
  • Device details for both devices - computer name, IP address, MAC address, OS, service tag
  • Specific start and end dates
  • Supervisor's Approval
