Skip to a section: Option 1. Self-Service Portal | Option 2. Visit a Pirate Techs Technology Support Center | Option 3. Request an Activation Code Online
Overview
Occasionally, a password expires or locks and must be reset. We recommend the self-service online portal (Option 1) as the most convenient method for resetting your password. However, if you need help, we are happy to assist. See options 2 and 3.
Option 1. Self-Service Maintenance Portal (Recommended)
The steps below are for current faculty, staff, students, retirees, unpaid affiliates (ECU users) and alumni who have already activated their PirateID account. First-time users will be prompted to enroll. For an overview and instructions (all users), see the Accounts - Access category in the IT Knowledge Base. Note that updating your password through the SSPR portal does not update any mobile app logins.

Option 2. Visit your nearest Pirate Techs walk-in location
Visit any one of four Pirate Techs walk-in locations on campus for assistance from a technician. No appointment necessary. Photo ID required.
Option 3. Request an activation code online
If you have a problem resetting your password through the self-service portal, follow these steps:
- Complete the ECU PirateID Password Reset Request.
- Attach a copy of a valid photo ID such as an ECU 1 Card, driver's license or any government-issued photo ID.
- Cover all information on the photo ID copy except your name and photo before making the copy. This protects your personal information.
- Submit the form.
- Check your alternate (non-ECU) email address for an activation code to access your account.
Password reset requests submitted before 12:00 p.m. are completed by 5:00 p.m. the same business day. Requests submitted after 12:00 p.m. are completed by 12:00 p.m. the following business day. We make every effort to reset your password as soon as possible.
