Tutorial - First Login to the ChatGPT Mobile App

What it is

The ChatGPT mobile app lets users work from a phone or tablet using typed prompts, voice, photos, files, and synced chat history. This ECU draft replaces Stanford/SUNet language with ECU/PirateID language and should be validated with ECU screenshots.

Responsible use reminder! Use ChatGPT Edu only in accordance with ECU guidance, instructor expectations, and applicable data-protection requirements. Do not enter restricted, confidential, regulated, or sensitive ECU information unless the use case has been approved.

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1

Install the official ChatGPT app from the Apple App Store or Google Play and confirm OpenAI is the publisher.

Open the app and select Log in.

Enter your ECU email address, if prompted.

Authenticate with ECU PirateID and complete multifactor authentication, if prompted.

Select the ECU ChatGPT Edu workspace after sign-in.

Step 6

Send a safe first prompt using non-sensitive content.

Step 7

Use phone input options such as typing, voice, photos, or files when appropriate.

Step 8

Use the sidebar or search to find previous chats.

Expected result

You are signed in to ChatGPT using your ECU account, working inside the ECU ChatGPT Edu workspace, and able to send prompts and continue previous conversations.

Troubleshooting

  • If the ECU workspace does not appear, confirm access has been assigned.
  • If the app opens a personal workspace, use the workspace selector to switch to ECU ChatGPT Edu.
  • If the mobile app does not work, update the app and try signing in at chatgpt.com from a mobile browser.
