How to Install CrashPlan (Mac)

Instructions are written for the most commonly-used browsers on our campus. End user experience may vary based on customized computer settings.

  1. Log in to the ECU Download Center using your PirateID and password.
  2. From the software list, scroll to the CrashPlan Pro entry.
  3. Select the Click here to access software link beside the software name. The CrashPlan site login opens.

  1. Log in with your ECU email address and password. The app download site for CrashPlan opens.
  2. Select the latest version available for your operating system. The software will download to your device.

  1. Double-click the download file and follow the prompts to install the software.

  1. From the Installer’s Introduction/Welcome screen, click Continue.

  1. Keep the default install location on Macintosh HD.
  2. Click Install.

  1. Once the software installs, click Close to complete setup.

  1. Start the CrashPlan application and sign in using your ECU email and this server address: central.crashplan.com:443.
  2. Click Continue. The ECU login page opens.

  1. Sign in with your ECU email address and password. The Welcome to your new homepage! dialog box opens.
  2. Click Dismiss. CrashPlan begins the initial backup of your main boot drive. Note that this backup set is named ECU Main. See other tutorials or the CrashPlan resources to learn more about CrashPlan.
