Voicemail Management

*There are two different PINS for your voice services:

  1. Phone Services PIN. Configured through the Cisco Self-Care portal to set up speed dial numbers, check personal directory numbers from your phone and more.
  2. Voice Services PIN. Used to access voice mail through your office phone or when when off campus.

Check Voice Messages

There are three ways to check your voice messages:

  1. A notification on your phone's LCD screen and a message waiting light on the hand set alert you to a new message. Press the Messages button on your phone to check voicemail. You must have a voicemail PIN (see below).
  2. Play the voicemail message from your email inbox.
  3. Dial 252-328-9870 to check from any phone off campus.

Manage Messages, Greetings, and Voicemail PIN

Manage your voicemail settings through your office phone or a web browser using the Cisco Unity Connection Web Inbox.

Telephone

Click the Messages button on your office phone or dial 252-328-9870 to access the vm system from off campus. You must have a voicemail PIN to access the voicemail options from your office telephone or off campus. Follow the voice prompts to change:

  • your greeting
  • message settings
  • preferences
  • transfer settings

Web Browser - Cisco Personal Communications Assistant

Follow the steps here to change your PIN and record new greetings through Settings. To access this portal while off campus, you must be connected to the ECU network through the virtual private network.

Step 1. Open a browser and navigate to voicemail.ecu.edu.

The Cisco Personal Communications Assistant login page opens. Type in your username and passphrase. Click the Login button.

Step 2. Select the Messaging Assistant link.

The Settings page opens. Note that the Web Inbox link opens to a list of your voice mail messages.

Step 3. From the Passwords drop-down menu, choose "Change PIN."

Type in a new PIN (numbers only). Re-type to confirm. Click Save.

Step 4. From the Greetings drop-down menu, choose "View Greetings."

The greetings table opens. Click the underlined greeting you wish to re-record (most users will choose Standard). The recording screen opens.

Using a headset, press the Record button to record your new greeting. Click the Save button.

  • Play your messages
  • Reply to a message
  • Send a new message
