How to Install CrashPlan (Windows)

Instructions are written for the most commonly-used browsers on our campus. End user experience may vary based on customized computer settings.

  1. Log in to the ECU Download Center using your PirateID (username) and password.
  2. From the software list, scroll to CrashPlan Pro.
  3. Select the Click here to access software link beside the software name. The CrashPlan site login opens.
  4. Log in with your ECU email address and password. The app download site for CrashPlan opens.
  5. Select the latest version available for your Windows operating system and follow the prompts to install the software.

  1. From the Welcome to the Code42 CrashPlan Setup Wizard dialog box, click Next. This begins the software installation.

  1. From the Installation Type dialog box, choose Everybody (all users).
  2. Click Next.

  1. Keep the default folder, C:\Program Files\CrashPlan\, and click Next. The Ready to Install dialog box opens.
  2. Click the Install button on the Ready to Install dialog box.

  1. Once the software installs, click Finish to exit the setup wizard.

  1. To configure the software, start the CrashPlan application and sign in using your ECU email and this
    server address: central.crashplan.com:443.
  2. Click Continue. The ECU login page opens.

  1. Sign in with your ECU email address and password. The Welcome to your new homepage! dialog box opens.
  2. Click Dismiss. CrashPlan begins the initial backup of your main hard drive (ECU Main).
