Cisco AMP for Endpoints is a cloud-based malware protection software that complements the virus protections already at work on your ECU-managed* Mac or Windows computer.
As part of the security tools loaded onto ECU-managed Windows and Mac computers, AMP for Endpoints runs in the background to scan the computer for malicious software. AMP works with other virus protection software.
If AMP should block a software, you will receive a pop-up warning on your desktop:
There is a chance that AMP could block a necessary software. If this happens, call the IT Help Desk at 252-328-9866 | 800-340-7081 or submit the IT service catalog general support ticket.
As with all higher learning environments, ECU creates and stores vast amounts of sensitive information, including FERPA, PII, PHI, PCI, research data and other regulated information. Hackers constantly attempt to access this information, and it is our responsibility to protect the information in our care, both sensitive and non-sensitive. AMP for Endpoints scans are just one more tool to assist us in this effort.
*An ECU-managed computer system is one purchased by the university and assigned to you.
