Tutorial - Check Windows Defender

Windows Defender is the antivirus solution that is bundled with Windows 10. It is automatically configured and receives updates from Microsoft. If you install another antivirus program on your Windows computer, Defender is automatically deactivated. If you remove the other antivirus program, Defender automatically starts protecting your computer again.

Follow these instructions to check your computer's Windows Defender configuration.

  1. Click the Windows Start button and choose the Settings gear.
    ""

  2. From the Settings window, choose the Updates and Security link.
    ""

  3. From the Update & Security screen, click the Windows Security option. A list of protection areas opens, and you will see a green check beside each area except family options. Areas include Virus and threat protection, account protection, firewall & network protection, app & browser control, device security, device performance & health and family options.
