Overview
Instructors have the ability to export poll results to Canvas for grading purposes. This can be based on participation, attendance or accuracy.
Step 1
Click the Participants icon in the left menu, then select Courses.
Step 2
Select the name of the course you'd like to create a Gradebook report with.
Step 3
From this page you can create a new Gradebook report or choose a Gradebook that you have already created for this LMS course.
Step 4
Adding a new Gradebook will put you into the report creation flow. In the side panel, select the Gradebook report and then the activities you wish to include in your report.
Step 5
Review the Gradebook report, then click the Export button (bottom right) to export the grades to Canvas.
Note: The report name is the name assumed by the grade column in Canvas. Rename your report by clicking the Rename link next to the title at the top of the report.
Step 6
When you click the Export button, a pop-up asks you to confirm the LMS course for export OR to select the course from the drop-down menu for export. Additionally, you have the option to export the report as Grades or Participation. Make your selections, then click Next.
Step 7
The Export complete pop-up now filters the report by the participants in your LMS Course and starts the export. You should see a message indicating that the export has completed and is processing in the background.
Step 8
Once the export is complete, head back over to Canvas and click into your Grade center to verify that the new Gradebook column was created.
Please note: If you change the name of the gradebook report in Poll Everywhere and re-export, it will update the name of the assignment in Canvas. Additionally, if you change the assignment name or grades in Canvas, it will revert back to the name and grades in Poll Everywhere when you re-export the report to Canvas.
For this reason, we recommend not making changes to the Canvas Gradebook but that you export a Gradebook report from Poll Everywhere.
