Webex Overview for New Users

Webex Meetings includes calling features to give ECU users ONE desktop/mobile interface for meetings, voice calls (using your phone number), voicemail and contacts.

Start an Unscheduled Meeting (Meet Now)

Desktop app. Install the Cisco Webex Meetings app from ecu.webex.com. Open the app and click the Start a Meeting button.

Outlook. Schedule, start and join a meeting through Outlook. To install, click the Get Add-ins button on the Outlook ribbon.

Mobile. Install the Cisco Webex Meetings app from your device's app store. Open the Webex app. From the My Meetings section, click the plus (+) sign to add a new meeting. Click the Start link to open the meeting. Add participants. Click the Start button to begin the meeting.

Join a Scheduled Meeting

Outlook (online, computer or mobile app). Open the calendar invite and click the Join Webex meeting button or call one of the appropriate Join by Phone numbers for an audio-only call. Enter the meeting password. Must have the Cisco Webex Scheduler add-in.

Mobile. Open the Webex app. Check the Settings section of the app to set audio and video options. Two ways to join:

  • Click the Start button beside the appropriate meeting in the My Meetings section.
  • If you are invited to a Personal Room, swipe left and choose, Join Meeting. Enter the meeting number, URL or username, and meeting password.

Telephone. Call the appropriate Join by Phone number from the calendar invite. Enter the access code listed in the meeting invite. Or click the Join Webex meeting link and choose your call in option: Webex Personal Room. Navigate to ecu.webex.com.

Personal Conference Room. Navigate to ecu.webex.com.

  • Option 1. Enter the meeting number or the host's Personal Room ID.
  • Option 2. Click the Sign in button and click Start Meeting to enter your personal room or click Start beside the meeting listed in the Upcoming Meetings list to join a previously-scheduled meeting. Use your PirateID to enter your personal room. Click Start beside the meeting listed in the Upcoming Meetings list.

Schedule a Meeting

Outlook (computer). Within a new appointment dialog, click Add Webex Meeting in the ribbon. Sign in using your ECU account.

Mobile. Open the Webex app. From the My Meetings section, click the plus (+) sign to add a new meeting. Add attendees and other meeting options. Click the Start link. The meeting will show in the My Meetings section of the app.

Personal Room. Navigate to ecu.webex.com. Click the Schedule a Meeting link and complete the form. The meeting password will be automatically generated or users can set a specific password. Add the email addresses of invitees. 

Configure Voice Services

Add your office phone number to Webex and add these features to make voice calls through your computer or mobile device – convenient when you travel or telework:

  • Call list (recent and missed) – mouse over a number to start a video/audio call
  • Keypad to dial a phone number
  • Access to your voicemail inbox
  • Call forwarding to another number or voicemail

To enable voice services through Webex, first submit the Webex Calling Account request, then configure the updated app with your office number:

Desktop App Mobile Device
  1. Open the desktop app.
  2. From Settings (at the top), click Phone Services.
  3. Authenticate (log in) with your PirateID and password. You must update your password every 90 days.
  4. Follow the prompts to add your office number to the app. Tap Settings, then Join Options to add additional numbers
  1. From your device's app store, install the Webex app.
  2. Tap the Get Started button to add your ECU account.
  3. Authenticate (log in).
  4. Follow the text boxes to choose a few settings, edit your profile and other options.
