Overview
To "map a drive" means to create a shortcut to a resource you often use, such as a Piratedrive folder. Note that the process is slightly different for ECU Health or other employees using a computer not owned by ECU.
Step 1. Open the File Explorer app.
Click the Start menu and type, File Explorer.
Click Open. The File Explorer app opens. You should see the list of your computer folders on the left.
Shortcut: Press the Windows logo key + E on the keyboard.
Step 2. Select Map network drive option
From the File Explorer window, right-click This PC and select Map Network Drive.
The Map Network Drive dialog box opens.
Step 3a. Configure the drive path.
If your computer is ECU-owned, and you have logged in to this computer using your PirateID, follow these steps to map the drive:
- Choose a different drive letter or leave it at the default.
- Type the address (path) to the resource. Example: \\piratedrive\folder-name.
NOTE: Slashes lean to the left. Replace "folder-name" (example) with the name of your folder.
- Check the Reconnect at sign-in box to make the mapped drive available in File Explorer every time you log in to this computer.
- Click the Finish button.
- Your mapped drive is now available from File Explorer's folder tree on the left.
Step 3b. Configure the drive path (ECU Health).
If your computer is not owned by ECU but you are an ECU employee, follow these steps to map the drive:
- Choose a different drive letter or leave it at the default.
- Type the address (path) to the resource. Example: folder: \\piratedrive\folder-name.
NOTE: Slashes lean to the left. Replace "folder-name" (example) with the name of your folder.
- Check the Connect using different credentials box.
- Click the Finish button. The Windows Security dialog box opens.
- From the Windows Security dialog box, enter your PirateID and password as follows: intra\PirateID, then the password.
- Click the OK button.
- Your mapped drive is now available from File Explorer's folder tree on the left.
