VCL - Saving Files

When using the VCL:

  • Save files you create in your ECU OneDrive cloud storage.
  • Files saved to the VCL Desktop, Documents or Pictures folders automatically sync to your OneDrive folder.
  • Files you use during your VCL session should be opened from OneDrive.
  • Files NOT saved directly to OneDrive, the Desktop, Documents or Picture folders are subject to deletion without warning.
  • When you log in to the VCL, your OneDrive automatically logs in and begins to sync documents.
  • However, it's important to verify the sync is working correctly:

Step 1. Locate the blue cloud icon in your screen's taskbar (bottom right).

""

Step 2. Click the blue cloud icon to open the OneCloud settings. Verify your account is logged in and files are syncing - you will see this at the top with a green check mark.

""

Step 3. If you are NOT signed in to OneDrive, click the blue Sign In button or open the OneDrive shortcut on your desktop. Either option opens the sign in dialog box. Type in your ECU email address to open OneDrive and begin syncing files.

Save a File

Depending on the application you're using, the process to save files might be different. In general, clicking the File menu, then Save or Save As opens a dialog box to choose where to save your files. Here are two examples:

Example 1 – Microsoft Word

Step 1. Click the File menu, then the Save As option. The Save As dialog box opens.

""

Step 2. Click the OneDrive folder and name your file. Click Save.

Example 2 – Eviews

Step 1. Click the File menu, then the Save As option. The Save As dialog box opens.

""

Step 2. Click to open the OneDrive folder on the left side of the Explorer window. The file/folder list opens on the right.

Step 3. Name the file, then click Save.

Be sure to verify files in OneDrive have synced before logging off the VCL!
