Data Loss Prevention (DLP) focuses on preventing the loss, misuse, or unauthorized access of sensitive data. This will be achieved by identifying and classifying sensitive information, monitoring and reporting data activity, and leveraging modern technology to replace current manual DLP processes.

The DLP initiative will leverage ECU's existing Data Classification Standards to identify and classify sensitive information while enhancing visibility into how data is stored, shared, and used across the University. In addition to strengthening data security, the project will modernize and streamline current manual DLP processes through the use of automated technologies.
